GOD REQUIRES ALL OF US. ARE WE WILLING TO GIVE IT?

Matthew 10:37-39 NLT
“If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”

I love the way Yeshua spoke. He didn’t sugar-coat things. He was deemed as brash sometimes, but he said what needed to be heard. He reminded those who wanted to be called disciples of the price to pay for following him.

The flamboyance in ministry today portrays the call as a lollipop frenzy that offers only comforts, but Gethsemane and the Cross speaks otherwise. Unless we are willing to forsake all and see Christ’s call as the most important mandate of our being we are merely existing in time but not living for eternity.

What version of you does God have today? Is it sold out, or are you on the fence? Nothing related to the work in the kingdom calls for a passive attitude. The world in which we live is filled with the lost waiting to hear the gospel and reaching them requires blood sweat and tears. Look around you; The signs are clear and the times somewhat resemble the days of Noah. We need to wake up!

Ironically, the sold out love for God, provokes a stubborn love for people. Too oft wounded soldiers are left to die because we misunderstand that the requirement to reach them is engulfed in radical talk and action still rooted in love. Consider this; unless we really love Christ, we cannot even say we love mother, father, sister or brother anyway. I believe music and worship is a good place to start, for it softens the hardened heart.

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Prayer:
“Lord help me to be sold out completely for you. Your call on my life is specific and the world is waiting to hear of you. Help me realize this today in Jesus name Amen”
